15 superbikes welcomed me at Cafe Coffee Day, 50km from Kolkata. This was my first CCD afternoon since I came back. Emotional! So, these bikers: on Triumph, Harley, Ducati, BMW, Enfield and more surrounded me and what followed was a 60 minute question/answer session. The onlookers joined in. CCD staff looked on with interest. These bikers would do the RTW within a year or so.

BBC: President-Sanky dropped me here from Santiniketan. He was joined by Niladri another biker and we rode peacefully towards Kolkata. The awe of visiting Santiniketan grew on me. I had been to a great place of learning. I promised my wife, we will do a course here.

Post CCD, the bikers, led by my friend Bharat Ladsaria, my host in Kolkata took me to the Victoria Memorial. A television crew was waiting and took live action riding shots.

We rode to the Triumph showroom, to get my bike serviced. The entire staff clapped when they saw my bike. They also welcomed me. The Triumph bikers assembled here for sandwiches and more stories. Even the service people were listening. It was night by the time we left.

Bharat’s younger brother Anand took me to my hotel. I write this from the car. I am expected in a club for a talk and dinner. Someone is getting a collar shirt for me.

The night is young in the City of Joy.
